SAVANNAH,
Ga. – May 9, 2008 – The Clayton State
Laker women’s tennis team saw its 2008 season come to a conclusion
on Friday as the Lakers dropped a 5-0 decision against second-ranked
Armstrong Atlantic in the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Regional
championships at Armstrong Atlantic. Despite the defeat, 11th-ranked
Clayton State finishes the season 20-6 overall, setting the school
record for victories in a season and winning 20 matches in a season
for the first time in program history. Armstrong Atlantic advances
to the NCAA Division II "Sweet 16" next week in Houston, Texas.

Ga. – May 8, 2008 – The Clayton State
Laker women’s tennis team made program history and advanced in the
2008 NCAA Division II National Tournament all at the same time on
Thursday. Playing in the first round of the NCAA Division II
Mid-Atlantic Regional at Armstrong Atlantic, the Lakers recorded a
5-2 victory over Peach Belt Conference rival Augusta State. The
victory improves Clayton State to 20-5 overall, marking the first
ever 20-win season for Clayton State in women’s tennis. Clayton
State now battles Peach Belt Conference rival and second-ranked
Armstrong Atlantic in the Regional championship on Friday at 10 a.m.

Lakers finish fourth overall at NCAA Division II Southeast Regional

MOORESVILLE,
N.C. – May 7, 2008 – The Clayton State Laker men’s
golf team can keep their bags packed for one more week. They are
going to Houston. Clayton State came on strong in the final round of
the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional on Wednesday and qualified
for the NCAA Division II National Championships for the first time
since the 1999 season. The 20th-ranked
Lakers shot a 301 for the final round and finished with a 901
overall to claim the fifth and final spot in the Regional for next
week’s National Championships in Houston, Texas. The Lakers edged
Peach Belt Conference rival and 24th-ranked
Lander by one stroke and Barton by three strokes in the combined
Southeast/Atlantic Regionals at The Point Lake and Golf Club.

MOORESVILLE,

2008 –
The Clayton State Laker men’s golf team finds itself on
the outside looking in for a potential NCAA Division II
National Championship round berth after the second round
of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regionals on Tuesday.
After shooting a 296 to open the Regional on Monday, the
20th-ranked Lakers slipped in the second
round with a 304 and now stand fifth with a 600 heading
into Wednesday’s final round at The Point Lake and Golf
Club. In the combined Southeast and Atlantic Regionals,
the Lakers trail Barton by one stroke, Newberry by three
strokes and 24th-ranked Lander by four
strokes in the battle for Division II National
Championship berths. Individually, junior Will Wilcox is
currently tied for ninth overall at 3-over par 147.
