Ga. - October 11, 2008 – Overtime
games are becoming common for the Clayton State Laker men’s soccer
team this season, and it was no different on Saturday. Playing at
Peach Belt Conference rival North Georgia, the Lakers played their
seventh overtime game of the season, and the result was a 1-1
deadlock against North Georgia at the North Georgia Soccer Complex.
Clayton State, now 7-0-2 in its last nine games, is now 7-3-2
overall and 2-0-2 in the Peach Belt Conference. Freshman Leighton
Fredericks scored the lone goal for the Lakers.

Clayton State Laker women’s soccer team put up
a spirited battle on Saturday at Peach Belt
Conference rival North Georgia. However, the
Lakers came up on the short end of the match-up,
dropping a 2-1 decision to the Lady Saints at
the North Georgia Soccer Complex. Clayton
State falls to 0-12 overall and 0-5 in the Peach
Belt Conference with the defeat. Senior Teresa
Smith-Dack scored the lone Clayton State goal in

Tonight's scheduled men's soccer game between Clayton
State and Montevallo has been postponed due to inclement
weather. It will be re-scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 14,
at 7 p.m. at Laker Field.

  COLUMBUS,
Ga. - October 7, 2008 – After
opening with a 296 for the first round on Monday, the
Clayton State Laker men’s golf team could not gain much
ground on Tuesday in the final round of the Aflac/Cougar
Invitational. The 12th-ranked
Lakers shot a 297 and finished tied for 10th
overall in the talented 17-team field with a 593.
Clayton State finished tied with sixth-ranked Valdosta
State, and finished one stroke behind Georgia
Southwestern, and eight strokes behind both North
Alabama and Barry. Clayton State did, however, knock off
top-ranked and defending NCAA Division II National
Champion West Florida by seven strokes. The Argonauts,
who won last week’s State Farm-Laker Collegiate Classic,
finished 13th
overall with a 600.
