South Region postseason honors
Lakers duo earn top athlete,
assistant coach awards, respectively
 MORROW,
Ga. – May 29, 2008 – With the 2008 outdoor track and field
season officially concluded, the Clayton State Lakers took two
postseason awards recently from the United States Track and Field
and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Junior Ahmad Rolle
earned USTFCCCA South Region Athlete of the Year honors, while
Clayton State assistant coach Clive Caesar won South Region
Assistant Coach of the Year.

Larry earns NCAA Division II
All-American honors in Outdoor Track and Field
Laker junior places fifth in women’s
high jump at Division II Outdoor National Championships
 WALNUT, Calif. – May 24, 2008 – Back
in March, Clayton State’s Kim Larry entered the outdoor track and
field season having not competed in the women’s high jump in roughly
five seasons. However, she has come more than a long way in a short
period of time. Larry wrapped up an "amazing spring" on Saturday by
garnering All-American honors in the women’s high jump at the NCAA
Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The junior from
Tupelo, Miss., who joined the Laker track and field team after
finishing basketball season, finished fifth overall in the women’s
high jump to earn the distinct honor. Larry cleared 5-feet-8 inches
on the high jump to finish fifth.

Kreutzer finishes 12th in women’s 10,000-meter run at
NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships

Etienne misses qualifying for finals of women’s 400-meter hurdles
 WALNUT,
Calif. – May 22, 2008 – The opportunity to repeat as an
All-American in outdoor track and field went by the wayside on
Thursday for Clayton State’s Allison Kreutzer. Kreutzer, a senior
from Lilburn, Ga., came short of earning Division II All-American
honors for a second straight season in the women’s 10,000-meter run
at the 2008 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Kreutzer finished 12th overall in the event with a time of
36:27.07 minutes at Hilmer Lodge Stadium. Last season, Kreutzer
earned Division II All-American honors in both the 5,000-meter and
10,000-meter runs.

State qualifies five athletes for NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and
Field Nationals

return to outdoor championships
 MORROW,
Ga. – May 13, 2008 – California, here we come! Clayton State
will be sending its largest number of track & field athletes since
2004 to next week’s NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National
Championships in California. Earlier on Tuesday, Clayton State
received official notice that five Laker athletes – three from the
women’s team and two from the men’s team — will compete in the
Division II championship meet May 22-24 in Walnut, Calif. The meet
is being hosted by Cal Poly Pomona. Representing Clayton State on
the women's side is senior Allison Kreutzer, junior Kim Larry and
Keisha Etienne, while senior Eric Simmons and junior Ahmad Rolle
will represent the Laker men.
