Laker freshman makes impressive collegiate debut at Georgia State Invitational

MORROW, Ga. – September 18, 2007 – The Peach Belt Conference released its weekly honors for men’s and women’s cross country on Monday, and Clayton State’s Walid Berkhelde was selected as the Men’s Runner of the Week.

The freshman from Scarborough, Ont., made and impressive Laker debut on Saturday at the 35th annual Georgia State Invitational. He finished 16th with a time of 27:44, and was the top Division II and Peach Belt finisher amongst the runners. In addition, he was the No. 4 finisher amongst non-Division I runners as the Lakers finished fourth overall out of 14 teams.

Clayton State is back in action this Saturday with the Jaguar Invitational in Augusta.
